A Quick Guide to the Lands Between's Major Locations

Where the story takes you, region by region.

The Lands Between is large and mostly open from early on, but the regions do have a rough story order and distinct identities. Here's a quick tour.

Limgrave

The starting region: green, relatively welcoming, and home to Stormveil Castle, held by the demigod Godrick. Most players' first real story boss fight happens here.

Liurnia of the Lakes

A misty, flooded region built around the Carian royal family's territory, including the Royal Academy of Raya Lucaria and Ranni's storyline.

Caelid

A blighted red wasteland ravaged by Scarlet Rot, the site of a devastating past battle between Radahn and Malenia. Deliberately dangerous for how early you can reach it.

Altus Plateau and Leyndell

The political and religious heart of the Lands Between - Leyndell is the Golden Order's capital, home to the Erdtree itself and several of the game's central story bosses.

Mt. Gelmir

A volcanic region housing Volcano Manor and Rykard's territory, connected thematically to fire and corruption.

Mountaintops of the Giants

A frozen, late-game region tied to an older conflict (the Fire Giants) and a major step toward the story's climax.

Crumbling Farum Azula and beyond

The endgame areas, including the ruined, gravity-defying city of Farum Azula, lead to the final confrontations that decide which ending you get.

Underground: Siofra River, Ainsel River and Deeproot Depths

A whole hidden underground layer beneath the surface map, connected to older, buried civilizations and some of the game's most striking optional lore and areas.
