Who's Playing Who? The Elden Ring Movie's Confirmed Cast
Ten actors are officially confirmed for Alex Garland's Elden Ring adaptation - here's who they are, how each one was cast, and why no character names have been revealed yet.
by The Roundtable Herald · 2 October 2026
A24's Elden Ring film has ten confirmed cast members, revealed in a single announcement on April 20, 2026 after nearly a year of individual trade reports and rumours: Kit Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Ben Whishaw, Nick Offerman, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Emma Laird, Peter Serafinowicz and Jonathan Pryce. No character names or roles were announced alongside the cast reveal, and none have been confirmed since - anything you read about who's playing who is fan theory, not fact.
How the cast came together
The announcement followed more than a year of individual casting reports, each unconfirmed at the time it broke. Kit Connor, who had already worked with Alex Garland on the film Warfare, was reported by Deadline to have been cast to lead the film in May 2025 - a trade report citing sources, not an official studio announcement at the time. Ben Whishaw's involvement was first reported in July 2025 as having "allegedly joined", and Cailee Spaeny - who also worked with Garland on Civil War - was reported to be in talks the same month. Nick Offerman, another Civil War collaborator, was reported joining in April 2026, shortly before the full cast was confirmed.
The chance meeting that cast Peter Serafinowicz
One casting story has a confirmed account straight from the actor. Peter Serafinowicz, a familiar voice to Soulsborne fans from his FromSoftware voice work including Mild-Mannered Pate in Dark Souls II, told Russell Howard's Five Brilliant Things podcast that he met Alex Garland by chance - Garland already recognised his voice work, and Serafinowicz left his contact details before later being cast. His actual role in the film remains unrevealed.
What's still unknown
A24 has never released character names, so any casting-to-character theories - who's playing the Tarnished, who's playing Marika, and so on - are speculation, not confirmed fact.
