Kicking off Game Discussion with something actually new: the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition DLC launched yesterday, August 28.

What's in it:
New starting classes: the Iuds Knight and the Heavy Knight.
New weapons and armor added alongside them.
Three new Torrent appearance skins: the Tree Sentinel Spectral Steed Attire, Silver of Caria, and Funereal Night.
New NPC invasion events in Caelid and Leyndell.

On PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S and PC (Steam) it's sold as the standalone "Tarnished Pack DLC" — you'll need the base game already. On Switch 2 it ships as a full Tarnished Edition (base game + Shadow of the Erdtree bundled in) for $79.99, digital or physical.

Anyone jumped in yet? Curious whether the new Torrent skins are cosmetic-only or tied to anything else, and how the Iuds Knight class plays compared to the standard starting classes.

Worth flagging separately from the DLC content itself: FromSoftware also shipped Patch 1.17 alongside it (Aug 27-28) - the first real balance update in almost two years, not just cosmetics. Pulled the highlights straight from the official notes:

Weapons: increased crit power on the Smithscript Dagger and Rellana's Twin Blades, reduced stamina cost + more power on axe/spear throwing attacks, a scaling rework on the Carian Sorcery Sword (Intelligence now boosts all damage types on it), and greatshields got lighter with better guard boost.
Skills/Sorceries/Incantations: faster Parry recovery, Storm Wall now costs no FP, Founding Rain of Stars and Carian Retaliation buffed, faster Meteorite casts, Feather of the Divine Bird and Rain of Fire strengthened, O, Flame's range expanded.
PvP tuning: Rakshasa's Great Katana takes more player damage, Rugalea's Roar weakened, Rotten Breath's hit reaction shortened.
Bug fixes: Great Katana crit/jump-attack issues, a PC mouse-during-dialogue bug, and the keyboard/mouse reset option being restored.

Bandai Namco also said they'll "continue to make improvements" going forward - outlets are reading that as more bug fixes/balance passes rather than another Shadow of the Erdtree-sized expansion, for what it's worth.
