Kicking off General Discussion properly - figured some real numbers would be a good excuse to talk about how everyone actually got into this game.
The base game hit 30 million copies sold as of last count, after launching back in February 2022 (20 million of that came in just the first year). Shadow of the Erdtree sold over 5 million copies in its first three days alone. And Nightreign, the co-op spinoff, hit 5 million copies in under two months. FromSoftware's older games got a boost too - the Dark Souls trilogy jumped to roughly 35 million combined sales post-Elden Ring, up from about 27 million before it.
Whatever you think about the movie adaptation, or the new Tarnished Edition DLC that just dropped (see Game Discussion), it's worth remembering how much of a genuine phenomenon the base game already was.
So - when did you start playing, and what pulled you in? Word of mouth, the Miyazaki/GRRM team-up, or did you come in fresh off Nightreign or the movie news?
